As a former Olympic level athlete, and current physiotherapist and pilates instructor, movement has always been an integral part of my life.
I was a gymnast for the first two thirds of my life, during which time I was fortunate to have competed in two Olympic Games (Sydney 2000, and Athens 2004). An appreciation for physiotherapy during my athletic career led me to pursue it in my professional career, and so I have been working as a physiotherapist in the orthopaedic and sports realm since 2010. The pilates method really resonated with my approach to rehabilitation, and so I pursued rehab-specific training in the Stott method, as well as a Classical pilates diploma from the Embody School of Pilates in Canmore.
Since moving to Fernie in 2017, I am constantly inspired by the opportunities that our wonderful mountain setting presents, and by the enthusiasm with which they are seized by Fernie’s residents. My hope is that by combining the pilates method with therapeutic principles, I can help you to feel empowered by moving better. Whether you are recovering from injury, suffering from a chronic condition or simply want to improve your ability to do what you love to do, I look forward to having the opportunity to help you live your best Mountain Life!
Jennifer Delich graduated from the University of Queensland with a Master of Physiotherapy Studies. She also completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of New Mexico. Although Jennifer has a large background with sports she enjoys treating everybody. As a lover of the outdoors (especially the mountains!), Jenny knows the frustration that occurs when pain or an injury holds you back from your favourite activities. She knows how to help individuals rehabilitate after orthopaedic surgery- in particular knee surgery. She can perform movement assessments and provide corrective home based individual exercise programs. Jennifer is also a certified GLA:D provider, an exercise program for osteoarthritis and has successfully helped many individuals with osteoarthritis stay active with decreased pain. Her treatment approach incorporates therapeutic exercise, Pilates, manual therapy, acupuncture, Gunn IMS (dry needling), and myofascial release.
